When I worked for the Chinese government, it was considered completely normal to tell your boss that you had period pains and to take the day off. I only used it a couple of times, because I was still inhibited by my upbringing, but my Chinese colleagues obviously had no such misgivings.

We need to re-educate ourselves about periods, and the journey you’ve been on is exactly where we need to start. Especially for those of us who plan to or have already decided to use our reproductive organs to have children.
