Perhaps reread the argument. Nazism isn’t universally associated with capitalism. British imperialism isn’t universally associated with capitalism (despite very, very clearly being a very, very capitalist enterprise). However, when we hear gulags, we think socialism. When we hear Mao’s famine, we think socialism. These things ALL have more to do with authoritarianism than capitalism or socialism. Yet only the socialist horrors are attached to any ideology.
